40-Mile start @ 7:00am (40M WAVE START ASSIGNMENTS)

The race is run on the Uwharrie Trail in the Uwharrie National Forest. All races start and finish at the Jumping Off Rock trailhead on Flint Hill Rd. (also known as State Road 1306), two miles east of Ophir, NC.

**NEW for 2021** In order to eliminate the need for shuttle vans and buses, all participants will be directed to park on either side of Jumping Off Rock trailhead. Participants should expect to walk up to 3/4 mile away from the start/finish area. Please be patient and only park where the shoulder is wide enough. Park first, then check-in!

Race Day Packet Pickup and Check-In is at the race START/FINISH area: Jumping Off Rock Trailhead
*Pro-tip: park first, then check-in. You can leave a bag at the start area.

40-Mile: Packet pick-up/check-in from 6:00am – 7:00am
Packet pick-up/check-in from 7:20am – 8:00am

Drop Bags
40M runners only will receive a bag for bag drop. The bag will be available at the 20M turnaround and again at the finish. Official drop bags will be provided – no personal bags or duffles accepted.
16M and 8M runners are welcome to leave a bag in the designated “bag check” area, but they will not be issued a drop bag and these bags will not be transported anywhere. No valuables, please!

All finishers receive handmade pottery awards from Michael Mahan, a local Seagrove potter.  Top 3 male & female finishers in each race receive special commemorative pottery and top overall finishers will receive shoe certificates from ALTRA.

Aid Stations
Aid stations are situated at the 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, 35 and 38-mile points. Water, GU Roctane energy drink, soda, GU energy gels, and pre-packaged snacks available at most aid stations. Soup, snacks & hot drinks at the finish area. Aid Stations also have basic first aid supplies, so please ask if you need anything.

NOTE: 8-Mile Runners will have 1 aid station at approximately the 3- and 5-mile mark located at the Joe Moffitt Trailhead.

EMTs will be stationed at the 8-Mile mark, 20-Mile mark and start/finish areas. HAM radio operators are located at most aid stations for the purpose of tracking runners and communicating with the race director. Please ensure your bib number is clearly visible at all times. If you choose to discontinue the race at any point, you must report your name and bib number to an aid station volunteer.

Pre-Race Dinner
There will not be a pre-race pasta dinner in 2021.

Crew Access
Crews may access their runners at the 8, 11, 20, 29, 32 and 38 mile points. Please review the map and driving directions.
